Indiana Regional Community Policing Institute (RCPI)

In 1997, a Community Policing Institute was established in Indiana through a United States Department of Justice Grant that was administered and supported by the Office of Community Oriented Services (COPS).  The Institute was charged with administering training and educational initiatives and strategies throughout the State of Indiana.  The Indiana Regional Community Policing Institute (RCPI) is one of  the twenty-seven such institutes throughout the United States of America with a similar mission of enhancing the quality of community life.

Key criterion for the existence of a Community Policing Institute is that it play a strong advocacy role for training, education and professional development of law enforcement personnel and community citizens, especially in the area of continuing educational credits such as Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) credits.

Mission

The Indiana Regional Community Policing Institute (RCPI) exists to develop, promote, and provide comprehensive, innovative educational policing strategies, for law enforcement agencies and community, in order to enhance the quality of life throughout the Indiana region.
